The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is hosting HKUST-IMO 2016 Lecture Series II on 18 & 19 December 2015. Prof. Jeffrey Lagarias, Harold Mead Stark Collegiate Professor, Department of Mathematics, University of Michigan, U.S., will be the speaker of the lecture series.

IMOHKCL and HKUST sign a Hosting Agreement

The International Mathematical Olympiad Hong Kong Committee Limited (IMOHKCL) and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed a Hosting Agreement for the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) 2016 which will be held in Hong Kong from 6 – 16 July 2016. As the Host University of the IMO 2016, HKUST will provide contest venue and accommodations for more than 1,000 participants. IMOHKCL and HKUST will collaborate to facilitate a positive and lasting experience for all participants.

The Hosting Agreement was signed by IMOHKCL Director Professor Shum Kar-ping and HKUST President Professor Tony F Chan. The Education Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government will be the Supporting Organisation of this event.

To promote the awareness of mathematics in society through Hong Kong’s hosting of the IMO, and to enable the public to know more about this prominent international competition, IMOHKCL will join HKUST’s exhibition at the InnoCarnival 2015. The InnoCarnival will take place at Hong Kong Science Park from 31 October to 8 November 2015.

Stamp Sheetlet of 57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016

Hongkong Post will issue a stamp sheetlet of 57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016 on 6 July 2016. The stamp sheetlet features Ceva’s Theorem and contains a circular stamp depicting a geometric problem that was formulated by Hong Kong and adopted in the IMO 2010.
